# Resale & Platforms

Resale is where product trust is most often tested. A buyer is asked to trust a stranger's photos and word about an item that may be worth a great deal. Optivalux is designed to give resale platforms, marketplaces and authentication services product-level evidence instead.

This page describes roles and intended integration points. It does not describe existing partnerships or live integrations.

> **Current stage:** platform integrations are not yet available. See [Current Stage](/getting-started/current-stage.md).

## What a platform can check

Before a sale, a platform (or a buyer) can check three separate facts about a product:

| Fact                     | Question                                                                    |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Authentication** | Did the product's registered authenticator just answer correctly, and when? |
| **Certificate standing** | Is the brand's certificate Active, Suspended or Voided? |
| **Ownership** | Is the product claimed, and is a transfer pending? |

Public verification never reveals **who** the owner is. It can show that the product is owned, not by whom.

### A verified-product badge that states what was checked

A platform can present a verified-product indicator that states **what was checked and when**, for example "Authenticator verified · certificate active · checked 14:02". It should not say "guaranteed authentic" or equivalent. See [Claims & Limitations](/trust/claims-and-limitations.md).

### Listing photos and QR codes are not verification

A QR code or link in a listing only locates the product's record. It proves nothing about the item being sold. Real verification requires tapping the product's authenticator, which in a listing context means the seller (or the platform's authentication staff) doing so with the product in hand.

## How ownership moves in a sale

A sale completes ownership transfer only when:

1. the **seller**, as current owner, authorizes the transfer to the named buyer;
2. the **buyer** accepts it;
3. the **buyer** verifies the product in hand.

This has direct consequences for platforms:

* **A seller who holds the item but does not own its certificate cannot complete the transfer.** A stolen product cannot be transferred by the thief.
* **The final step happens at hand-over**, when the buyer has the product. For shipped sales, the transfer completes on delivery, not at checkout.
* **There is no built-in waiting period** once all three conditions are met.
* A transfer **cannot complete while the certificate is suspended or voided**, or while the owner has reported the product lost or stolen.

## Authentication services and service centres

Organisations that inspect or service products can:

* **verify** products they handle against their registered identity;
* **take part in brand-assisted recovery** when the brand designates them, for example by fitting a replacement authenticator after inspection. The brand's security role still authorizes the recovery; the service centre does not gain that power itself.

## What platforms cannot do

* Transfer a product without the owner's authorization and the buyer's acceptance.
* Change a certificate's standing. That belongs to the issuing brand.
* See owners' personal information through public verification.

## Integration

Integration interfaces for platforms are not yet published. Platforms interested in shaping them can reach Optivalux through **Infrastructure partnership** on [Contact & Partnerships](/company/contact-and-partnerships.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.optivalux.com/for-partners/resale-and-platforms.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
